Breast Cancer Awareness Part 4: Pink Polishes Galore!

Like the rest of this week, today has been uber busy.  I'm pooped and ready for bed, but I really wanted to make sure I got a post in today.  I have tons of pink polishes I haven't shown you yet, so I'll leave you with pink polishes galore!  [WARNING: this is a very pic heavy post!]

OPI DS Elegance

It applied well, like all OPI DS's.  It lasted a few days, too, which is saying something when you think about how often I change my polish!

Dollish Polish Random Dancing

While this isn't necessarily a pink polish, I layered it over DS Elegance.  I really like how this looked!  Random Dancing had more orange than I thought it would, which was a bit of a turn off.  However, I really love the multicolored squares.  They just make this polish.  Easily applied, but you'll need to store it upside down so you can get the squares out.

Gelish You're So Sweet You're Giving me a Toothache & Dollish Aurora Borealis

I love wearing gels when my nails are healthy.  I have had to really work hard on getting my nails to a decent state, so I decided I would toss on some gels to celebrate!  Notice how they're getting a bit longer?  Yay!  Toothache is a gorgeous baby pink creme, but I got a little bored with just straight up creme.  I decided to toss on Aurora Borealis, and I really like the look.  The pink-to-blue color shift in the Dollish is just gorgeous, but understated enough that I didn't mind wearing it to a few networking lunches.

Lac Attack Hell on Heels

If you like fine matte glitter polishes, you'll love this one!  It has pink, blue, and yellow, in a faintly pink base.  Like most fine matte polishes, you need to dab it for it to spread properly.  It also tended to thicken up quickly.  Here, I have it layered over my Gelish mani.

Lynnderella Matter of the Heart

As I mentioned in my comparison post yesterday, MotH is a bit of a pain to apply.  The hearts were almost impossible to get out.  I only got lucky on my thumb because I had stored the bottle upside down while I prepped my nails.  I hated how it came out in the comparison post, so I decided to just use one coat on top of my Gelish mani.  It ended up looking really good that way.  Next time I use it, I definitely plan to add some thinner.

Maisie Shine Fairy Floss

Again, as I mentioned yesterday, Fairy Floss is on the thicker side and the glitters were a massive pain to get out.  Once I did get them out, the bars didn't stay flat on my nail.  I received it in a swap, and while it is pretty, I'm not sure this is one I will keep.

Lacquer Convention Galinda

This is two coats over my Gelish mani, and I really like the way it came out.  The Gelish gave the polish depth, but using two coats still kept the squishy jelly sandwich look.

Whimsical Ideas by Pam My Friend Carol & NYC Matte

I wore MFC over my Gelish mani as well.  I mean, it was on, so why not keep it on while I wear all of my pretty pink polishes?  Once I applied MFC, I knew it would look amazing mattified.  In fact, I'm pretty sure that you can find matte pictures of MFC on Pam's Facebook page!  I got the NYC Fast Dry Matte top coat to see how different it would be from Essie Matte About You, and it was very different.  Firstly, it didn't dry as quickly, so I didn't have to worry about clumping or dragging.  Secondly, the matte wasn't as strong as MAY.  The biggest difference: about $6.  I purchased NYC at Riteaid.

Lacquerhead Polish Baby Girl

Again, I wore this over my Gelish mani.  This is two coats, but I'm pretty sure it would look great with just one coat over undies.  I think I may try to jelly sandwich it sometime, but I'm not sure how that would work since it's a creme.

Comparison Thursday: Breast Cancer Awareness Edition

This week has been CRAZY.  Like, for real crazy.  I have been putting off setting up my business for about a year, but this week a very old friend who also practices law decided to mentor me and get my butt in gear!  I have had networking meetings galore, which means boring manis during the day.  However, I'm very pleased to say that I am now ready for paying clients!  I'm pretty freaking exhausted right now.  Wish me luck on this crazy endeavor!

Since I'm doing breast cancer awareness on the blog this week, it's only fitting to use those gorgeous baby pinks in my Thursday Comparison!  Apparently, I have a crap-ton of baby pink glitters, so here we go!  Pink glitters on parade!

Lacquer Convention Galinda, Polish, Eh? Confectionary, Lynnderella Matter of the Heart, Maisie Shine Fairy Floss, Lacquerhead Polish Baby Girl, Whimsical Ideas by Pam My Friend Carol, and Pretty & Polished Cheer Camp

Here they are on my fingers.

Galinda is a pink jelly polish with pink, periwinkle, and fuschia hexes.  It applied evenly without much manipulation.  I wore it later on top of my Gelish You're so Sweet You're Giving me a Toothache mani, which I'll show you tomorrow.  It really liked it over the solid creme.

Fairy Floss is a pink creme based polish with a slight shimmer and pink, fuchsia, red, and silver holographic hexes, sqaures, and bars.  It was a little thick in application.  The glitters were a bit hard to get out of the bottle, and the bars refused to lie flat.  They weren't curled, but they didn't do well on the nail.  Also, the glitters were hard to see when you use more than one coat.  I probably will toss this one on the sale page, so if you're looking for it, go here in a few days.

My Matter of the Heart came crushed in the mail.  It was one of my biggest lemmings, and a friend sold it to me for cheap, which means I couldn't get another bottle.  Luckily, I was quick enough to get about 2/3 into mini bottles before the whole thing was wasted.  MotH is a pink creme based polish with hexes, squares, and hearts in purple, fuchsia, pink, silver holographic, and red. I'm not sure if it's because I have it decanted, but it was very thick.  Then again, almost all of the Lynns I have are thick.  Either way, I used 3 coats here, but I should've used just 1 over some undies.  There was WAY too much going on here.  The glitters were a pain to get out, especially the hearts, and required serious manipulation to get it to come off the brush.  I loved this polish in theory, but it's execution is lacking.  I'll post pics I took of MotH over my Gelish baby pink mani tomorrow, and you'll probably agree that it looks so much better that way.

Lacquerhead Polish Baby Girl is a pink creme based polish with hot pink, purple, and fuchsia hexes.  It applied well, but would also be better as one coat over undies.  It started to thicken as I went along, but it wasn't unmanageable.  I'm pretty sure a drop or two of thinner would fix that right up.  The glitters spread out well on their own.  I received this guy from a swap group I'm in, which I will post about at a later date (it's super cool and I can't wait to share!).

Polish, Eh? Confectionary is a baby pink creme with a rainbow of colors in hexes and squares.  This polish applied the best out of all of them other than maybe P&P Cheer Camp.  It was the perfect consistency and the glitters spread out perfectly.  Love love love this polish!

Whimsical Ideas by Pam is a super light baby pink creme with light pink hexes in two sizes.  I mattified it, and I'm just in love with how it came out.  I only have a few Whimsies, but the ones I have are just gorgeous and easy to work with.  I'm sure this one would look great as a jelly sandwich, but I chose to layer it over my Gelish mani.

Last, but certainly not least, is one of my all time favorite polishes, Pretty & Polished Cheer Camp.  I love this polish more than I can explain.  I mean, seriously.  It's a pale baby pink with pink, purple, and fuchsia hexes.  In the macro, you can see that it builds fine on its own without undies, but in the swatch above I have it over undies.  It applies extremely well without pooling, thickening, or glitter manipulation.  I'm just so in love with this polish. It's perfectly understated that I think you could get away with it during a normal day at the office.  Probably not the best idea to wear it to a meeting, though.

Breast Cancer Awareness Part 2: Pahlish Glittoris

That name never ceases to make me giggle.  It reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where the lady won't remind Jerry of her name but does tell him that it rhymes with a female body part...

LMFAO.  Amazing.

So yeah, this, ladies and gents (?), is Glittoris.  Fitting, really, if you think about it since this is breast cancer awareness week on the blog.

Glittoris is a hot pink jelly based polish with hot pink glass flakes, holographic silver squares, hexes, and bars, various shades of pink hexes and squares, red squares, and translucent iridescent hexes.  Seriously gorgeous.

Glittoris applied so so so well.  I didn't have to dig for the squares, and the glitter spread out perfectly.  It wasn't too thick or too thin.  The glitter didn't really eat top coat either, but I did apply 2 coats of Seche Vite, which was a mistake.  Shrinkage.  Ugh!

Look at those glitters!!!  The iridescent hexes are seriously my favorite.  Stunning!

Breast Cancer Awareness Part 1: Polish Eh Confectionary

Wow.  The turn out for these giveaways has been stellar!  Thank you so much for your participation.  I have been reading all of the comments, and I will respond to them all by the end of the week.  I have a crazy task ahead of me to make sure I keep on top of the reader of the month this month!  It's been great hearing from you!  If you want more information regarding the various giveaways going on around here, you can read about them here, here, and here.  Also, thank you so much for the well wishes.  The hubs and I are both feeling much better today.

As everyone in the world knows, October is breast cancer awareness month.  Having had several members of my family beat breast cancer, it has become a cause I'm very invested in.  Breast cancer has affected several members of both sides of my family, so I know I have to stay on top of my own self-breast exams and will start getting annual mammograms in a few short years.  If you aren't already doing your own breast exams, you need to start!  Here is some great information on how to check for irregularities yourself.  Obviously, since we're talking about boobies, there are drawings of boobies, so don't click on that link if you're at work!

In honor of breast cancer awareness, I am wearing pink polish all week!  The first installment is Confectionary by Polish, Eh?  

Confectionary is a baby pink creme based polish chock-full of various colored glitters in hexes and squares of different sizes.

Holy crap, this polish applied amazingly.  Even better than the custom that Janet did for my birthday, which is saying something!  I didn't have to use thinner at all on this polish.  The glitters also floated along the nail without any manipulation and didn't require any coaxing to get out of the bottle.

You guys get right hand this time because it actually looked better than left hand, probably for the first time ever.

I mean, look at this closeup!  It's not even the best nail to show how gorgeous this polish really is, but I didn't get very great macro shots of my other nails.
