Today I have a review of Mash's Mash's matte topcoat for you. I personally have been on the lookout for the perfect matte topcoat for sometime, so I was very excited to get the chance to test this out. I just realized it's currently on sale for 50% off (!), so I hurried to get this review posted, so you can take advantage of that sale if you're interested. In fact, I'm showing you this post a bit out of order of what I intended, so there are some polishes here that I haven't reviewed yet--stay tuned for that. :)
Here is what the product looks like in the bottle; it's a full-sized bottle, coming in at 15ml:
As I've gone through my search for the perfect matte topcoat, I have discovered that there are different types of matte topcoat. There are the full-on down-and-dirty polishes which put that hard-core matte finish on your manicure. And then there are those that give more of a satin finish, and those that give more of a wax or rubber sort of finish. This topcoat is of the satin-finish sort. :)
My favorite thing to mattify is glitter polish, so I tested it out on three pretty glitters from The Lady Varnishes, which I'll be reviewing for you shortly. First, here is Such A Nice Beast, without matte topcoat:

As you can see, it gives a soft, satiny matte finish to the polish. It subtly give a frosted look to the polish in an elegant way.
Let's try that again with another polish! This time it's Castle Beyond The Goblin City, and what I've done is paint all of the nails with matte topcoat, except for the pinky, so you can compare in the same picture:

And finally, here is Bog Of Eternal Stench, this time with only the accent nail done in matte polish, again so you can compare in the same photo:

I had no problems with the formula on this--it went on easily and evenly, with no patching. It dries in a reasonable amount of time; for me it was about 2 minutes before I got the full effect.
So, is this the matte topcoat for you? This depends on what effect you're going for. This topcoat is going to give you a subtle matte effect along the lines of a satin matte or a wax matte finish. This won't leave you with a stark, gritty contrast of a full-on matte. Sometimes I'm in the mood for that, and sometimes I want a more subtle effect--if you're the same way, you'll be very glad to own this topcoat so you can get that elegant satin matte look.
And if you're going to get it, now's the time--like I said, 50% off!! This is normally $7.99, but it's on sale now for $3.99. That's a bargain in my book, and you know I love a good bargain. :) You can find this topcoat by clicking here. Also, it looks like they're still running their special on their nail art pens; if you're looking for a good set to play with, check out my review of them here. I love mine, and highly recommend them. :)
Thanks for reading! Hope you're having a great weekend. :)
