What's more fun than an event with manis, cupcakes and bubbly? We can think of one thing - if the founder of Zoya Nail Polish, Zoya Reyzis was there! Zoya recently visited New York City for an event with fashion designer, Rolando Santana to display the "Alegre" collection that was custom made by Zoya Nail Polish for New York Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014. Beauty Blogger, Princess Polish was one of the lucky guests to attend the event and was inspired by what Zoya shared. Want to learn a few fun facts about Zoya Reyzis? Princess Polish has the scoop!

"Zoya is a classically trained pianist who considers dead composers such as Bach and Chopin (her current favorites, which change constantly) to be amongst her best friends and confidantes. She didn't care that the government took her passport from her when she left, but that they took her diploma from the Moscow Conservatory, which she had studied and trained tirelessly to earn." - Princess Polish"

She recognized that most nail technicians aren't just of one profession. Rather, they are friends, confidantes, and psychiatrists. "Oh, the things women would tell me," Zoya said with a slight laugh. "One woman told me she was having an affair with a friend's husband. She was one of my clients, too, and I was always afraid one day, I might slip!" - Princess Polish

Stranded NYC recently stopped by an event that Zoya Nail Polish co-hosted with fashion designer Rolando Santana for manis, cupcakes, and bubbly! With a little background on Rolando Santana, Stranded NYC paints a perfect picture of what the event involved.
 
Guests were treated to manicures using the custom color by Zoya trio "petal effect" look from the NYFW SS14 Rolando Santana collection. Stranded NYC interviewed both Rolando Santana and Zoya Nail Polish founder, Zoya Reyzis.

"We always look at the balance of the collection from a commercial point of view. We learned about Zoya and I thought it was a great outlet for us. Not just to use color on the clothes but to accessorize. Women love nail polish. It was a great way to interpret the main colors of the collection.” -Rolando Santana

"Zoya looked beautiful and glowing so we couldn’t resist asking, just how does Zoya pamper herself? She says her secret is none other than… yoga. “I am a firm believer of Yoga. I study Yoga philosophy and I do yoga poses. I am fascinated by the idea and concept of relaxation and I can talk a lot about. People think that Yoga is the art of living. Whatever is beautiful is called art.” - Zoya Reyzis

Rolando Santana and Zoya Nail Polish Mani Event

Nail Polish, Cupcakes and Bubbly

What more could a girl want!? Zoya Nail Polish traveled to NYC this week for a very fun event with fashion designer Rolando Santana at his showroom. Guests were invited to indulge in manicures, cupcakes, and champagne while a beautiful model causally strolled though the showroom showcasing a few of Rolando's best looks. Zoya Reyzis, founder of Zoya Nail Polish,  and Rolando Santana casually engaged with a select group of fashion and beauty fans.

Attendees were treated to a complimentary Zoya Nail Bar by lead manicurist Sunshine Outing and her team that provided the SS14 Rolando Santana show look as well as delicious cupcakes from Baked By Melissa! The nail look created for the Rolando Santana SS14 show by Sunshine Outing was a "petal effect" using Zoya Nail Polish in Natasha and Zoya Nail Polish in Sara; both custom colors for the runway collection. Zoya and Rolando spoke to the guests about their inspirations and their collaboration for NYFW SS2014 as well as their life stories. Guests were fascinated by the stories Zoya told about some of her life experiences that brought her to be the woman she is today, and the ladies sitting around her listening were truly in awe. The biggest thing guests took home from this experience was:

Guests also had fun with a nail look contest where they used the Rolando Santana SS2014 Zoya Nail Polish trio in their own variations created on a whim in an effort to win a season of Zoya Color and Treatments! The most creative nail look went to blogger, Princess Polish who received all of the Fall 2013 Zoya collections, a Zoya shirt, and the custom Rolando Santana trio. 


 
Manicures, cupcakes,socializing, and nail polish was a great way to end a cold Wednesday night in the city! During Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW) in New York, the Zang Toi S/S 2014 runway show channeled a night at the ballet. Zoya Nail Polish created three custom colors to compliment his ballerina inspired designs that are sure to make your digits dance! The "Petal Nail" look was created by Manicurist, Sunshine Outing using Zoya Nail Polish in Natasha as the base with a soft, organic swipe using Zoya Nail Polish in Sara to create a petal effect in a nod to artist Frida Kahlo.

A fresh bouquet of beautiful floral prints, delicate textures and alluring looks featuring a multitude of yellows, whites, nudes and pinks almost seemed to float down the crisscrossed runway as if riding a beautiful breeze. Rolando Santana channeled his muse Kahlo to perfection!

For SS14, Zoya color developer Rebecca Isa work with fashion designer Zang Toi to create three beautiful ballet inspired hues for Zang's vision of "Ballet Babes" for spring and summer. 

The gorgeous trio of color was gifted to all show attendees. Included in the collections were Boy Toi (a soft periwinkle blue, full coverage cream), Black Swan (an ultra glossy black, full coverage cream) and Ballet Babe (a delicate pink, full coverage cream).

The nail look was a glossy meets matte split using a new custom blackest, black called Black Swan and a for show only, matte velvet topcoat to create the look.

Manicurists, led by Cinnamon Bowser, randomly swiped the matte topcoat over the black at either on the top or bottom to create a different, totally unique look for each nail and each model.

The design team of Timo Weiland, Alan Eckstein and Donna Kang (AKA Timo Weiland) turned heads and during their fun and spirited, Indonesian surf inspired Spring/Summer 2014 collection at MadeNY. Zoya was there at the center of it all with a new custom hue named Timo (blue).

Lead manicurist, Sunshine Outing used two colors for the Timo Weiland show depending on each models show look for the Red nails, the team selected Zoya Nail Polish in Maura and the models wearing blue? That was really special - They wore the new Custom Color- Zoya Timo.

For the Peter Som SS14 show at Milk Studios (madeNY). Zoya Nail Polish's color developer Rebecca Isa, created a trio of color that related perfectly to the spirit of the collection and were inspired by Peter's love of surf culture!

Two of the three custom hues Zoya Alexa (cream teal) and Zoya Edie (a surfs up Island blue) were used together on the runway to create bold, half-moon "nail wave" design and was painted on all of the models using either Zoya Alexa with an Edie moon of visa versa! 

A third color, Zoya Stella (an opaque, full coverage light peach), was also created to compliment the collection colors and complete the Zoya Gift Box trio that was gifted to all show attendees.

Even the models couldn't stop looking at their gorgeous Zoya nails!

To get the Peter Som "Nail Wave" look by Zoya, all nails were prepped with Zoya Remove+ nail polish remover and conditioner. Then one coat of Zoya Anchor Base Coat (or Zoya Get Even Ridge Filler Base Coat depending on the models nails). To achieve the look, lead manicurist, Sunshine Outing applied  two coats of Zoya Nail Polish in Alexa. and free handed the moons by stopping 3/4 of the way down the nail and applying one coat of Zoya Nail Polish in Edie (or Edie with Alexa in reverse) to create a free spirited surf culture style "Nail Wave". The look was glossed and sealed by using one coat of Zoya Armor Top Coat and one drop of Zoya Fast Drops on each nail to ensure every model would make it the runway dried and ready!
