Boston Marathon Tragedy: Honor and Remember

Today marks a terrible day in the history of a long-running tradition of our country. It's a horrific and violent story, so if you have a weak stomach or fear you may be emotionally troubled by some of the details of today's events, please do not continue to read.

During one the iconic Boston Marathon today, two bombs exploded in the onlooking marathon crowd. Three people lost their lives, and at least 140 more were injured, some sustaining injuries so horrific it's astounding they too did not succumb to their injuries. Several people lost their limbs and there is no telling the kind of emotional damage everyone at the event inflicted.

Through all the pain and difficulty, I think it's important to honor not only those that were injured and lost their lives, but also those who so selflessly ran to aid in the tragedy. One man, Carlos Arrendondo, is captured on video and in pictures, holding the exposed artery of a young man who lost both legs during the explosion. (The young man's name is Jeff, and he is in stable condition.)

So in the wake of such an awful day, hold hope in your hearts that although every batch has one or two rotten fruits, the rest are a wonderful gift to be cherished and appreciated.

The inspiration for tonight's nail art comes from the medal the marathon runners recieve. The blue and yellow colors of the medal, as well as the medallion itself are depicted. The unicorn on the medallion in this nail art is shedding a single tear to depict the tragedy, and the heart on the thumb symbolizes that today will forever be in everyone's hearts.
