Yodel Layla Yodel Lay

Wearing a true holographic polish really makes me want to yodel. Or try something else as equally ridiculous for me to attempt. Trying my hand at brain surgery after reading up on the Wiki pages? Hog-tie a darting calf in a crowded three ring circus? Acting as a Sherpa to climbers of a snowy mountain?

If you answered yes to that last one, then you would probably be using the term "Sherpa" incorrectly. Sherpa correctly refers to an ethnic group from the most mountainous region of Nepal. The people from these Himalayan regions are "highly regarded as elite mountaineers and experts in their local terrain"1. Not every "guide" on a mountaineering excursion is a Sherpa. It's a very small portion of guides, and only those from this region.

It's thought that "a portion of the Sherpas' climbing ability is the result of a genetic adaptation to living in high altitudes. Some of these adaptations include unique hemoglobin-binding enzymes, doubled nitric oxide production, hearts that can utilize glucose, and lungs with an increased efficiency in low oxygen conditions."2

If you answered yes to any of the other ones, you know me well.

So here's a true holographic...the yodel-inducing formula.

Jade Groove (Layla) and Connect the Dots (Lynderella).

What's Black, White, and Full of Glitter?

THESE NAILS!

I literally couldn't handle the giggling that kept spewing out of my mouth when I thought about all the awesome glitters I've accumulated. So, I did the only thing I could think of...put one on each nail!

Now some of these you've seen already, but I couldn't repeat a polish on another nail, so I resurrected them.

Here are the candidates:
  • Left Hand
    • L.A. Girl Uninhibited
    • All That Glitters Spotty Dottie White
    • Lynderella Connect the Dots (linked to Ilarowe's shop where it's currently being sold)
    • windestine Carbon Copy
    • Sally Hansen Multi-Faceted
Sadly, only Holy Cow is available from the Etsy shops, but you can definitely nab the Sally Hansen and L.A. Girl more readily.

Oh...and the green is Just in Lime! (Sally Hansen Insta-Dri).

Black and White Glitters

I may not be posting my nails, but I am most certainly not going to abandon you guys.

I have some awesome news and exciting tips for you today.

One of the most coveted nail polishes available to lacquer heads today comes from Lynderella: Connect the Dots. It's a gorgeous polish that goes well over every single thing it's layered with. Check out some of these examples:

Unfortunately, this beauty of a polish is really hard to come by, and may be harder now that she has closed shop for a while and made her blog private. Sucks I know.

Luckily, there are opportunities out there to get dupes and polishes that are really close. I just ordered two of these from All That Glitters, an Etsy shop run by Kirsten. She has two glitter polishes that are similar to Connect the Dots. For the black, she has Spotty Dottie Dark.

For the white, she has Spotty Dottie Light.

I just ordered one of each, so I have no idea how the consistency and application is, but those beautiful solid glitters make me so happy.

There has also been another move on Connect the Dots from Ninja Polish. They sell polish from a polish creator called Cover Band Lacquers. Their almost perfect dupe is called Sticks n' Stones and is currently sold out. You'll notice though that there is a message to buyers near the bottom that reads:

Sticks 'n Stones is not a limited edition product. The creator is working furiously to make us more stock. We expect a lot of stock again within 2-4 weeks.

The Spotty Dottie's go for $8.00, and Sticks n' Stones goes for $9.00. While Lynn is clearly unhappy about theses polishes popping up, you'll be happy to know that you have access to similar polishes.

iPhone-ing

Thrilled about my new iPhone and a bit too preoccupied with it to post properly, here's a mobile post ft. my new phone, case, and Connect the Dots (Lynderella) and Caribbean (Savina).
